Local Roundup: Cardinals overpower Tigers

The Cardinals led by only nine at the half but outscored the Tigers 33-5 in the third quarter to pull away for the road win.

Kayden LaClair had 23 points to lead Stevens (7-3), while Hunter LaRocque added 18.

Karter Pollari led Newport (0-9), which trailed just 33-24 at the half, with 10 points.

FM JV boys fall to Kearsarge, 63-52A terrific comeback by Fall Mountain cut the gap to only five points in the final quarter but couldn’t get any closer falling to a good Cougar team. Noah Whipple (21 points) and Needham (18 points) paced Kearsarge.

Fall Mountain was led by Owen Riendeau (15 points) and Ledger Willett (12 points) while Jacob Hearne and Aidan Parrott had seven points each coming off the bench.

“It wasn’t our best showing,” said Coach Kraig Harlow. “We will head back into practice to improve upon our mistakes and refocus on our goals.”

Green Mountain boys 74, West Rutland 13The Green Mountain upped its record to 5-3 on Friday with a 74-13 victory over win less West Rutland as the Chieftains had a 49-6 lead by halftime.

Branden Rose finished with 16 points and Tanner Swisher chipped in with 14 to lead Green Mountain.

Windsor bowling sitting in 4th position

After three weeks of competition, the Yellow Jackets are in a dogfight as they are tied with Brattleboro and South Burlington for the fourth spot.

Burlington, Fair Haven, and Randolph sit above the Jacks early in the season.

Windsor’s Patrick Kelly is ranked the second best bowler across the Green Mountains while Avery Bean and Alyssa St. Louis are ranked in the Top 25.
