Vorn “Dizzy” Swain

Vorn “Dizzy” Swain NEWPORT — Vorn R. “Dizzy” Swain, 78, of Unity Road, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. He was born in Newport on Feb. 16, 1943, the son of Arthur and Ruby (Chamberlain) Swain. Dizzy graduated from Stevens High School in Claremont and then went to work at the Shoe Shop. He also was employed at the Gulf Station and the Newport Fire Department before going to Sturm Ruger where he worked for 38 years, retiring in 2011. There were many relatives in the family and he always included everyone. Dizzy loved spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He liked to keep busy and was an especially good woodworker, making furniture and toys for the kids. Never without a dog, he loved the companionship and time spent with his furry friends. He was predeceased by children, Roy Swain and April Swain; and siblings, Orvis “Sonny” “Wacky” Hamilton and Leland “Buzzy” Swain. He is survived by his wife of almost 34 years, Barbara (Robinson) Swain, of Newport, New Hampshire; children, Bruce Swain, of Newport, New Hampshire, Lydia “Skeeta” Pillsbury (Dwayne), of Newport, New Hampshire, Deena Cota (Rick), of Newport, New Hampshire, Scott Swain, of Claremont, New Hampshire, Heather “Zeb” Wadsworth (Corey), of Claremont, New Hampshire, Terri Downs, of Sunapee, New Hampshire, Kandi Downs, of Plainfield, New Hampshire, and Russell Downs Jr. (Dawn), of Newport, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Brittny, Sarra, Clayton, Ashley, Alex, Jessica, Jennifer, Devin, Mike, Brooke, Keith, Alisha, Melissa and Mark; and great-grandchildren, Declan, Brycen, Corbyn, Malachi, Lenore, Christen, Mike, Karissa, Austin, Kayden, William, Aaraline, Avery and Salem. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
