WESTMINSTER, Vt. — The Terriers are sailing right along after easily handling Sharon Academy on Monday night.
After having the weekend off, Bellows Falls tangled with Phoenix sharp shooter Riley Eastman who canned eight points early until the rust fell off Evan Chadwick’s group and their defense just shut the visitors down.
“Sharon Academy battled but we really stepped up our pressure and our defense really took over the game,” Chadwick said.
The second quarter was a disaster for Phoenix as Bellows Falls didn’t allow a point while dropping in 21 points of their own to blow the game open leading 36-10 at the break. Owen LaRoss registered back to back blocks and was joined by board crashers Jon Terry, Jake Moore, and Patrick Barbour who pounded away at the glass. With Jack Cravinho coming off the bench to limit Eastman, the Terriers were off and running.
Sharon Academy came out firing to start the second half as Jack Lloyd, Parker Bogardus joined Eastman in hitting long range blasts from beyond the arc but the Terriers would have all the answers as Jaxson Clark became hot. LaRoss and Barbour found the inside to their liking as the in and out passing found their targets as the Bellows Falls lead grew.
Bellows Falls had 11 players with points as a balanced attack was just to much for the visitors to have answers for.
“We are a deep team with everyone capable of scoring, playing defense, and hitting the glass when needed,” Nystrom said. “We are solid top to bottom.”
Colby Dearborne led the way hitting for six points in the final quarter as Bellows Falls closed out the night with a 77-32 win.
LaRoss led Bellows Falls with 13 points followed by Barbour’s 12 points and Goodell’s 11 points.
Eastman led everyone with 16 points including a couple of three pointers from downtown.
Bellows Falls (7-2) has ripped off six straight wins but things will be a lot tougher on Saturday as undefeated Rivendell comes to town for a 2:30 p.m. game.
