Burt Wiggins Jr. UNITY — Burt Wiggins Jr. died at his home on Jan. 26, 2022, in Unity, New Hampshire. The son of Burt Wiggins Sr. and Aline (Messer) Wiggins, Burt was born on July 1, 1927, and grew up in Sunapee, New Hampshire, with 10 siblings. After serving in the Navy, Burt worked at Fellows Gear Shaper in Springfield, Vermont, and then at the Newport Post Office in Newport, New Hampshire. With his wife, Virginia (Weed) Wiggins, he traveled to Fort Myers, Florida, in winters and enjoyed Sanibel Island while golfing and fishing with friends and relatives. Burt was an avid sportsman who loved to fish, hunt and golf. He fished Lake Sunapee and Lake Winnipesaukee regularly and took special fishing trips to Lake Ontario, Moosehead Lake in Maine, and the ocean and rivers in British Columbia. He hunted in New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Montana for deer, elk and moose. Burt enjoyed traveling in his RV, gardening, raising fruit trees and picking blueberries. He relished telling stories and a good joke to family and friends. Burt and his wife, Virginia, were married for 74 years. Virginia predeceased him on Dec. 31, 2021. He is survived by daughter Vicki who resides in Virginia with her husband, Bob; and son Larry who lives in Unity, New Hampshire. He has four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Burt will forever be fondly remembered as a loving father, grandfather and husband.
