WINDSOR, Vt. — Windsor head coach Harry Ladue’s 39th year at the helm has been an up and down season starting out 0-2 with a smaller team than he expected. Though over the last few weeks the team has discovered itself climbing back to a 6-6 record and sitting in the 8th spot in Division III.

But cold shooting stopped the Jacks in their tracks on Monday.

Northfield could do no wrong while Windsor could do no right as the Yellow Jackets fell behind big early and never could close the gap. With Preston Lilly lighting up the scoreboard from all angles, his 170point first half nearly doubled Windsor’s offensive output.

“A few games ago the players brought a rooster to the game and it’s been our good luck charm ever since,” said Northfield coach Jim Robinson.

With “Frank” taking a spot on the end of the bench, everything went the Maurauders way as every loose ball and rebound found the hands of a player in maroon.

Windsor came out of the locker room to start the second half and looked like thay would make a run as the visitors. Austin Gauld drained a hoop while Kaleb Swett canned a free throw then Maison Fortin’s acrobatic layup gave the Windsor fans a glimmer of hope. Northfield would answer back with a couple of hoops as their cross court passes found great open looks at the basket.

“We’re finally coming together, it has taken a while but tonight everything just worked,” Robinson said.

Windsor’s shooting woes continued as the press resulted in a racetrack speed to the game but Northfield just kept the Jacks at arms length for the rest of the night.

“We were just outplayed tonight,” said Ladue as the Jacks fell to 6-7 on the season with the 61-33 loss. “We had a much better effort in the second half but each time we made a run, they punched right back.”

Swett led Windsor with 11 points while Fortin ended up with eight hard-earned points.

Northfield was paced by Lilly’s 17 points and Carson Smith did his damage in the paint and finished with 16 points.
