Muriel E. Mathews NEW BOSTON — Muriel Emily Mathews, 93, of New Boston, New Hampshire, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022. She was born on Dec. 1, 1928, in St. Albans Vermont. She was the daughter of John Albert and Mildred Emily (Skelly) Shepherd. A graduate of Charlestown, New Hampshire, High School and Wilfred Academy of Cosmetology. She later met and married the love of her life, George E. Mathews Jr. Together, they lived in Charlestown, New Hampshire, and Claremont, New Hampshire, where the raised two sons, David and Matt. She had her beauty salon, GEM Beauty Salon, at home. In 1987, they retired to Venice, Florida, where they spent 15 wonderful years before moving back to New Boston, New Hampshire. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David Albert Mathews; and her beloved husband, George E. Mathews Jr. Muriel is survived by her son, George E. “Matt” Mathews III and his wife, Linda (Giguere) Mathews, of New Boston, New Hampshire.
