Theresa Bergeron CLAREMONT — Theresa Bergeron, of Sullivan County Health Care, passed away quietly on Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, at the age of 96. She was born in Claremont on Oct. 4, 1925, the daughter of David Mignault and Laudina (Coulombe) Mignault. After the death of her father in 1926, her mother would later marry Edward Melcher who would adopt her and her older sister, Violet. Theresa would attend Claremont schools entering Stevens High School as part of the Class of 1942. She left school in 1941 to enter the workforce as an employee of The International Shoe Co. This move she would always regret throughout the period of her life she spent as a homemaker raising her six children. This regret eventually prompted her to enroll in the Claremont Adult Education Program in her early-50fifties, where she finally achieved her high school diploma. After graduating, she worked at multiple jobs in the Claremont School District, eventually settling in as an employee of the Adult Education Program she so dearly loved. She retired from her job in 2000 after spending 20 years in the system. With the responsibilities of family behind her, she enjoyed an active social life that found her attending dances regularly, as well as participating in a women’s bowling league for years. In later years, Terry loved being at the oceanfront and visiting the many lighthouses that dot the rocky shores of Downeast Maine. Her annual visit to Port Clyde with her daughter, Pamela, was the highlight of many summers. She is survived by four sons, Richard Bergeron and his companion, Jodie Raymond, of Claremont, New Hampshire, Timothy Bergeron and his wife, Susan Lee, of Strafford, Vermont, Jeffrey Bergeron and his companion, Susan Kane, of Hopkinton, New Hampshire, and Michael Bergeron and his wife, Kristi, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one daughter, Deborah Paulette and her husband, James, of Alstead, New Hampshire; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward Melcher Jr. and his wife, Angie, and Larry Melcher and his wife, Elaine; her sister-in-law, Rhoda Melcher; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela Bergeron; sisters, Violet Viotto and Marceline O’Brion; brother, Robert Melcher; her former husband, Normand Bergeron; her mother, Laudina M. Melcher, and father, Edward Melcher. Visiting hours will be held at Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad St. Claremont, on Friday evening, March 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Stringer Funeral Home Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with Father John Loughnane officiating.
