Catherine Shaw Clark

Catherine Shaw Clark NEW BOSTON — Cathy Clark, of New Boston, passed on Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, just short of her 74th birthday that would have been March 26. As a child, due to special needs, Cathy was enrolled and graduated from Perkins School in Lancaster, Massachusetts. Despite her significant disabilities, Cathy held many jobs, including work for private families, restaurants, day care centers, including the Villa Augustina in Goffstown. Her favorite job was as an assistant in the Special Ed Inclusion department of Concord High School for eight years. During her later years, she came home to reside in New Boston with her mother and brother. Cathy was an avid knitter in the New Boston knitting club and loved cats. She was a dedicated Celtics and Patriots fan, loved to read detective stories, play cards and board games. How much she enjoyed the active support from all her extended family, including her nieces, nephews, cousins and siblings! For several years, she was able to travel abroad, accompanied by family members. Cathy was a true optimist and much loved by her family and she tackled her life and work with strong character and tenacity. When once asked by a young nephew what the secret to life was, she said, “Be happy.” After a long pause, she added with force “with yourself!” Cathy was predeceased by her mother, Rhoda Shaw Clark; and her brother, Winfield “Binny” Shaw Clark; and her elder sister, Linda Clark McGoldrick. Cathy is survived by her brother, Alexander “Zandy” Shaw Clark; and her sister, Ellen Clark Anderson. Cathy has four nieces, Arden Lindsey, Heather Powers, Elizabeth McGoldrick-Bertin; and a stepniece, Helen Sprague. Cathy has four nephews as well: Caleb Clark, Bradford Brown, Nathan Brown and David Bass-Clark. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Cathy’s life in the spring.
