Jane R. (Moote) Porter NEWPORT — Jane Rose (Moote) Porter, 74, of Newport, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Feb. 12, 2022. She passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jane was born on July 6, 1947, in Proctorsville, Vermont, to Charles and Rose (Dashner) Moote. She spent most of her younger life between Vermont and New Hampshire. She was blessed with four beautiful daughters early on and worked hard in the following years to provide for her family. She would go on to meet her soulmate, Roger, in 1973 before settling in Newport. They would eventually welcome one more daughter and continue to spend nearly 50 years together. Jane worked for many years and eventually retired from Osram Sylvania in Hillsborough, New Hampshire, where she made many close friends. In most recent years, she worked as a caregiver for her dear friend, Beverly, a cherished friendship with years of memories. She enjoyed crafting in her spare time and watching shows with Roger. Jane’s happiest days were spent with her grandchildren, spoiling them, and making memories. Jane was a light for many people throughout her life and continued to have such an impact on those around her as her faith in God, strength and positivity never wavered throughout her battle. Jane was predeceased by her husband, Roger Porter; her daughter, Tonya Brown; her parents, Charles and Rose (Dashner) Moote; brothers, George, Mike, and Bob; and sister, Shirley. She is survived by her daughters, Hayley Pavlick, of Florida, Alyson LaFrance and her fiancé, Norm Carlson, of Warner, Nadeen (LaFrance) Wentzell and her husband, Dean Wentzell, of Newport, Priscilla (Porter) Osgood and her husband, John Osgood, of Kentucky; her sisters, Delphia Moscartolo, of New Mexico, Becky Revoir and her husband, Ronald, of New Hampshire, Pat Bourque and her husband, Michael, of Texas, Zora Desmarais, of Maine, and Helen Whittaker, of New Hampshire; and brothers, Bruce Moot and his wife, Donnah, of Arizona, Wayne Moote and his wife, Gale, of New Hampshire/Florida; her beloved grandchildren, Ashley Johnson (Swain), Hillary and Chandler Wentzell, Kyle, Michael, Jason, and Pyper Osgood; great-grandchildren, Brycen Flewelling and Corbyn Johnson; as well as countless nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. Graveside services for both Jane and her husband, Roger, will be held on May 15, 2022, in Eastman Cemetery in Sunapee, New Hampshire, at 11 a.m. Their celebration of life will immediately follow at Sugar River Bank Community Room in Newport, New Hampshire.
