More than a dozen New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association (NHIAA) Division II boys and girls ski teams competed in the annual State Meet at Great Glen Trails on Wednesday.
It was a tight battle for the top three boys teams.
Gilford took the day with strong races in both the morning classic and afternoon skate. Lebanon boys edged Fall Mountain in the morning, and Fall Mountain skied just ahead of Lebanon in the afternoon ultimately finishing in 3rd by only one point.
David Northcott of Walpole had a 3rd-place podium finish in the Boys Classic Race.
The rest of the Fall Mountain skiers placed as follows:
— The Morning 4K Classic Race: David Northcott 3rd, Edward Gowdy 10th, Gabe Lloyd 12th, Benjamin Tetu 14th, Ben Frithsen 23rd and Caleb Kinson 30th.
— Afternoon 4K Freestyle Race: David Northcott 4th, Gabe Lloyd 5th, Edward Gowdy 10th, Benjamin Tetu 16th, Caleb Kinson 27th, and Ben Frithsen 28th. Anna Lloyd competed in the girls races and placed 21st in the 4K Classic and 14th in the Girls 4K Freestyle.
Several members of the Fall Mountain Nordic Team have qualified to ski in the U16 and U18 Regional Races.
