Rita A. Simms WEST CANAAN — Rita A. Simms, 77, passed away at the Sullivan County Nursing Home on Wednesday, March 16, 2022. She was born in West Canaan, New Hampshire, on May 22, 1944, to the late Benjamin F. and Louise E. (Wilson) Adams. She was a member of the last graduating class from the Canaan High School in 1963. She was employed by Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital and then by the Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital. She was an LNA of 30+ years. She was married to the love of her life, William Simms, on Oct. 13, 1973. She enjoyed puzzles, caring for her children and the company of her cat, Squeakie. Rita is survived by her two daughters, Katherine Tufts and husband Douglas, of Bradford, Vermont, and Marion Steiner and husband Charles Jr., of Charlestown, New Hampshire; a brother, Richard Adams, of Enfield Center, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Elizabeth Gagne and companion Dylan Adamovich, Brian Gagne, Cassandra Prue and husband Rob, Tia Winship and husband Jeremiah, Timothy Steiner and companion Kylee Peck; great-grandchildren, Henry Prue, Alexander Prue, Owen Winship and Reid Winship; nephews and great-nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, David Adams. Family and friends are invited to Rita’s memorial calling hours at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon on Friday, March 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. On Saturday, March 26, at 11 a.m., Rita will have a memorial service at the funeral home.
