Casper “Cap” Blanchard

Casper “Cap” Blanchard NEWPORT — Casper “Cap” Blanchard left this world on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the age of 80 years old, after an extended stay at Dartmouth Hospital. Despite serious breathing issues, Cap stayed strong until the end, shaving himself and entertaining his family and friends. Raised in central Vermont, Cap served in the U.S. Army and became a mechanic like his dad. He worked in maintenance for GE, Goodyear and Ruger where he retired in 2007 with more than 20 years of service. Cap is survived by his dance partner and wife, Marlene; and his three children, Michelle, Tammy, and Brian and wife Leslie. Cap also leaves behind beloved grandchildren, Shannon, Breezy, Zachary and U.S. Marine Cody O’Brian; and his three siblings, Stanley and wife Cathy, Gail, and Gary and wife Deana. His daily life was also filled with his two canine sidekicks, Roxie and Gronk; and his great-grandsons, Blake and Brady, to whom he leaves his large antique toy car collection, including a pink Cadillac. He was predeceased by his parents, Casper Sr. and May Blanchard. His family, friends and neighbors will remember Cap as a “GOOD MAN who was loved by one and all and never had a bad word to say about anyone.” Please join them in saying goodbye during calling hours on Wednesday, April 13, from 5-7 p.m. The funeral service is Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at Newton Bartlett Funeral Home in Newport, New Hampshire, officiated by Donna Leslie. Burial will be immediately following services, in Pine Grove Cemetery with a reception at the Newport Moose Hall.
