William T. Huntoon

William T. Huntoon SPRINGFIELD — William Thomas “Billy” Huntoon, of Springfield, New Hampshire, age 58, passed away on April 22, 2022, with family by his side. He was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer in May 2021 and fought a hard and courageous battle. He was born in New London, New Hampshire, on March 3, 1964, to parents Jerry and Joyce Huntoon. Billy lived in the Springfield/New London/Sutton area his whole life and graduated from Kearsarge Regional High School in 1982. He was self-employed for carpentry and snow plowing. He began carpentry work in high school and was extremely skilled in his craft. He had many hobbies, including fishing, bowling, snowmobiling, playing cards, square dancing, making jokes, and spending time with his family and friends. Billy was a “one of a kind” soul and was known for his dry sense of humor and quick wit. There was never a dull moment when Billy was around. He loved to make people laugh. Billy always put others before himself and was a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was predeceased by his father; older sister, Sherry Huntoon; and nephew Jesse Stevens. He is survived by his mother, of Sutton, New Hampshire; his oldest daughter, Samantha Rollins and her husband, Jonathan, of Newport, New Hampshire; his youngest daughter, Kristina Huntoon, of Tilton, New Hampshire; one grandson, Aaron Rollins; former spouse and mother of his two daughters, Marie Huntoon, of Springfield, New Hampshire; older sister Carrie Stevens and fiancé Frank Szilagyi, of Sangerville, Maine; older sister, Susan Huntoon Johnson, of Andover, New Hampshire; younger sister, Pamela Huntoon Theis, of Sutton, New Hampshire; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and several close friends. Calling hours will be on Friday, May 13, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at the Chadwick Funeral Home (235 Main Street, New London, New Hampshire). A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 2 p.m. in Pleasant View Cemetery (Cemetery Road, Springfield, New Hampshire) with a reception to follow at the Springfield Meetinghouse (23 Four Corners Road, Springfield, New Hampshire). Please bring a chair if needed for the graveside memorial service as seating will be limited to immediate family. A square-dancing celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Billy received exceptional care from New Hampshire Oncology Hematology and Concord Hospital’s Payson Center for Cancer Care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to either organization.
