I-91 Bridge Replacement at Exit 8
Motorists will encounter a lane reduction and a lane shift in the Northbound and Southbound lanes of the interstate. A crossover traffic pattern has been installed and traffic has been reduced to one lane of travel in each direction within the construction zone. This pattern will remain in place throughout the construction season into the Fall.
Width restrictions are in place on both the Northbound and Southbound lanes of travel. Lane width in each direction is 14 feet maximum. There are no width restrictions for the on and off ramps at Exit 8.
A speed reduction of 55 mph is in place, and fines are doubled for speeding within the construction zone.
Shoulder closures and alternating one-way traffic on Route 131 under the bridge may be required next week.
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES, WEEK OF 5/23/22:
Crews have finished forming up the new deck for the Northbound bridge (Bridge 30N) and the deck rebar has been placed (see photo).
