Rutland catcher Samera Rideout smashed 2 home runs to help division 1 Rutland overpower Windsor 17-4 on Monday. Windsor senior Peyton Richardson gave everything her arm had left to give to keep the Rutland bats in check allowing only eight hits on the day but Rideout was on another level. The shortstop looked right at home behind the dish and went 3 for 3 with a couple of walks and scored five times. “I just do my thing and help my team anyway I can,” said Rideout.

With Rutland head coach Dick Wright scrambling to fill the void of four players out for the game, he put Rideout behind the plate and gave nod to Alyssa Kennedy on the bump as Wright made all the right moves. “We were solid today, our bats were hot and our fielding was spot on, glad to head home with a win,” said Wright.

Tamara Sabotka got Rutland on the board quickly with a ringing double for two RBI’s early then Rutland added seven more runs in the second to make it tough for Windsor. “This team will not quit,” said Yellow Jacket shortstop Meagan Holling who was elected prom queen on Saturday night. “We are a close group and our team is our family”.

Windsor would not go quietly as sophomore Sydney Perry ripped a hit that plated Richardson and Ember Pikramenos that extended the game but Rutland added more runs in the top of the 6th inning to put things out of reach. “We lost 11 players from last years team last but the spirit is alive and well in Windsor,” said first year Windsor head coach Kelsey Mason as the Jacks couldn’t get anything going against Rutland’s Kennedy. Windsor would manage four hits with Richardson, Bri Barton and Holland joining Perry.

Springfield Softball 15, Burr and Burton 1

Izzy Belisle was as sharp as could be in the circle for Springfield. She struck out 10 against only two walks in a game abbreviated by the mercy rule. If that was not enough, Belisle also had two doubles.

She had plenty of other offensive support. “We really had the bats going tonight,” Springfield coach Tim Considine said. Malia Findley was a big part of that offense with a triple and home run. Macie Stagner added a homer, Lexi Tewksbury had two hits and MacKenzie Sidler contributed three hits with a triple.

The Cosmos are 6-8 going into Wednesday night’s game against Proctor under the lights of Bill Robinson Field.

Hartford Baseball 10, Windsor 7

Windsor pushed across five runs in their half of the 5th but Hartford would answer with runs in their half of the inning and held on to beat the Jacks. Maison Fortin collected two hits and four RBI’s while Austin Goulsd also had two hits for Jamie Richardson’s Yellow Jackets. Adam Duford was the hard luck losing pitcher who went the distance but only allowed five earned runs.
