LTE: A Response to Tension

Being a good board member wanting to create positive change usually means working together for a greater good. Spaulding is the opposite. Being on the board many years, we worked together to attract good administrators and teachers in a one of the lowest paying districts. My term was up in 2022, we had one of the strongest Admin teams with strategic plan to move forward. Spaulding would know that if he did something besides show up at School board meeting and just shout hate.

After three months of finally attending School Board meetings Spaulding’s approach is solely responsible for the resignation of Newport’s Superintendent, BA, Curriculum Coordinator, Elementary Principal, Special Education Supervisor, and Tech Center Director, Grants coordinator and I predict an enormous number of others to come.

This article neglected to say Patrice who resigned, is our grants person, when she leaves so does million + dollars in grants. If Newport cuts that amount from the budget it will have a tragic effect on the district. Keep an eye on this folk for next year’s budget.

Edmonds in tears that night stated Spaulding has made this one of the most toxic environments he has ever been in, and it must stop. With all the resignations I fear Newport will become what past boards worked to prevent, the land of one-year hires.

Congratulations on a fine job, good luck improving the schools now. Who in their right mind would come to Newport? The Titanic Spaulding is sinking the district without regard to the team telling him iceberg ahead. Spaulding doesn’t care about the kids, so full speed ahead to the bottom. The best thing that could happen and should be demanded from the community is for Spaulding to Resign and hope the interim can rebuild from nothing.
