Robert H. Guillow SUNAPEE — Robert H. Guillow, “Bob”, 67, of Sunapee, NH, passed away at his home on June 2. He is survived by his son, Benjamin Guillow, and granddaughter Brooke Guillow of Monson, MA; Cousin Joanne Guillow Colletti of Vernon CT; Longtime girlfriend, Sabine Coupal and her granddaughter, Keryonna of Sunapee, NH, and many close friends who will miss him dearly. Bob was born on October 23, 1954 to Mary Osborne and Harold Guillow. He spent his childhood summers at Perkins Pond fishing, waterskiing, eating hotdogs and hamburgers from the grill, and listening to The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and The Who on his record player. His winters were spent skiing Mount Sunapee, reading magazines, and contemplating his next tattoo. In 1972, Bob graduated Newport High School and bought his first Harley Davidson. His true passion in life was riding in the wind. In 1984 he joined the Freelancers Motorcycle club and thrived on the camaraderie of the brotherhood. For many years, he wore the colors proudly and was involved in Toys-for-Tots fundraisers, organizing club functions, and of course, participating in the many, many rides. Bob was a loving, devoted father. He was always eager to see his son’s next sporting event, take him fishing, or dirt-biking. He was his son’s biggest fan in the stands, and rooted for him endlessly. Bob was a provider with 37 years of employment at Ruger before retiring in 2014. Bob was an authentic original. His passion and resilience were his greatest gifts. After sustaining injuries in a motorcycle crash years ago, he was told he would never walk again. He proved ‘em wrong, persevered and lived on; always seeking out his next adventure. There will always be an empty seat at the table for Robert Guillow. When he was at the table, his gifts to the conversation were uniquely interesting, fed by an extensive catalog of his readings over the years. His family and friends will always remember him in his blue jeans and black t-shirts, creating clever nicknames for those closest to him, and living up to the NH slogan “Live Free or Die”. His colorful charm, witty humor and generous nature will live on through his legacy. A celebration of his life will be held at the Foresters of America in Newport, NH, sometime in July 6th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Lake Sunapee Protective Association www.lakesunapee.org.
