Joshua Eaves NEWPORT — Joshua Eaves passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022 after losing his long battle with addiction. Born May 8, 1978, early on, Joshua had been known as extremely active and competitive in everything he did. He loved Little League and attended both Newport and Kearsarge schools, excelling in sports in both schools. He moved to Florida and met his wife Angie and had the first two of his three children, Seth and Austin, with Anna to come later. For those who knew Joshua, he had a smile that could light up a room, and a laugh that was contagious. He had a thirst for life and experiencing all it had to offer. He was a loyal son, father and friend until the drugs took hold of his soul, forever changing him. Addiction entered his life soon after high school. He attempted to overcome the battle, but struggled for over 20 years to regain his life. A stroke in July 2020 took his ability to communicate; permanently hospitalized, Joshua began his difficult struggle to overcome dependence. Once the drugs left his system, the sweet Joshua his family knew years ago returned in the final months of his life. Sadly, through many surgeries and health scares, his body could no longer sustain his life. Joshua leaves behind his parents Donna Mahair and her husband Peter, Tim Eaves and his wife Joanne, his children Austin Eaves of Newport, Seth Eaves of Sumter, SC, and daughter Anna of Lebanon, ME, along with his sister Jennie Lanier, brother Justin Eaves, grandmothers Jan Cheney of Russell Springs, KY and Joyce Eaves of Milton, NH. Also survived by his aunts, Kelly Eaves, Linda Gould and Shery Freak, along with many cousins. Relatives and friends may call from 4-6 PM Sunday, July 10th at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home in Newport. Private funeral services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Joshua’s family hopes his life story can help deter someone from entering the world of drugs, and help other families know that this can happen to anyone.
