Paul E. Cope CLAREMONT — Paul Eugene Cope a resident of Claremont, NH for 57 years passed away peacefully on the evening of July 28, 2022. He was born in Lima, Ohio on April 18, 1944, the son of Paul Elias Cope and Maxine L. VanDyke Cope. He graduated in 1962 from Spauling High School in Barre, Vermont. He married Donna Masi, August 29, 1964. They moved to Claremont in 1965 where they have lived the rest of their lives. He took a machinist course in the late 60’s in Berlin NH then went to work for Joy Manufacturing a short period of time. He later went to Cones Blanchard in Windsor, Vermont where he worked for almost 40 years. Paul retired from Lucas Machine in Springfield Vermont. Paul enjoyed fishing, hunting in his younger years and later enjoyed cookouts for his family, flea markets, casino’s and wheeling & dealing at yard sales. He was known to his close friends and family as “Red” or “Big Red” for his beautiful red hair nearly up to his passing and “Umpa “to the grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Donna of almost 58 years. Their children, Penny Cope-Russel, her husband Todd Russel and Ross Cope, his partner Sue Patel. Paul’s grandchildren are Vanessa Desharnais, her partner Chris Fazio, Geno Desharnais Jr., his wife Ann, Kristi Audet, her partner Brandon and Tiffany Cope. Paul’s 7 great grandchildren are Gage Morin, Jacob Fernald, Hailey Audet, Shaylynn Bunker, Tayler Miller, Karma Kyles and Isaiah Dennis. Paul has 3 nieces. Shannon (Sam) Hill from Montpelier, Vt, Kathy (Mark) Hubbard from Virginia Beach, VA and Amber Dexter of Virginia Beach, VA. Along with several grand nieces and nephews. Marlene Dexter, his sister-in law, is from Virginia Beach, VA. Paul was an only child but had many aunts, uncles and cousins from Ohio, Indiana, and Virginia. Paul was predeceased by his Dad in 1993 and his Mom in 2011. There will be no calling hours and the family will have a memorial in the fall.
