Marion Rice NEWPORT — Marion Lockhart Rice, born March 16, 1931 in Fall River, Massachusetts, daughter of Howard A. Lockhart and Elisabeth Dunham Lockhart. A graduate of Haverhill High and Addison Gilbert School of Nursing in Gloucester, Massachusetts. She is the widow of Ransom A. Rice. During her lifetime she was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Newport Hospital Gift Shoppe, Brownie Leader and Den Mother. In church life she was a Deacon, on the Hospitality Committee and Parish Relations Committee. She also sang in the church choir for years, a member of the Evening Circle, and was involved with the Church Bazaar. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Theodore Lockhart, and her sister Helen Lockhart. She is survived by children, Bruce Rice and his wife Linda; Lawrence Rice; Laurie Beebe and her husband Curtis; sister in law, Carolyn Lockhart; her five grandchildren: Mallori Parker, Molly Botenhagen, Lindsey Rice, Curtis Beebe and Arielle Beebe; her great grandchildren, Reagan and Carter Botenhagen; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Upper Valley Humane Society, South Congregational Church, or Richards Library.
