Friday Night Racing Preview

By Gary Dutton
CLAREMONT — Matt “Money” Hirschman, Ronnie Silk, Woody Pitkat and a posse of Modified royalty will all be at Claremont Motorsports Park Friday, as the third-mile speedplant hosts the 100-lap Open Modified Racers Honoring Racers event. And there’s plenty more.

Not only will the Open Mods be squaring off in the $15,000-to-win Racers event, they’ll be sharing top billing, as CMP will host not one, but two 100-lap main events. The Granite State Pro Stock Series will also be in action, racing in their own co-featured 100-lapper, this one paying $7,500 to the winner.

With many of the top names in Modified racing on hand to compete for the $15,000 top prize – the largest payday ever in the historic Thrasher Road oval’s 75-year history, winning will not come easily, as more than 25 teams have already signed up for this one, including a long list of Twin State Valley Modified royalty. The speedway’s all-time most winning driver, Dwight Jarvis, will be on hand, joining the likes of Brian Robie, Kirk Alexander, Todd Patnode and Joey Jarvis, each gunning to send the outside invaders home winless.

The Pro Stocks will also have a deep and talented field on hand for their 100-lap biggie, including Joey Doiron, DJ Shaw, Casey Call, Ray Christian, and hometrack favorite Luke Hinkley, each gunning to go home more than $7,000 richer.

The track’s weekly racing series Late Model Sportsman, Mini Stock, Pure Stock, and Six Shooter divisions will also be in action Friday, with post time for this historic event set for 6:30 p.m.
