Dana Brown BEVERLY HILLS, FL — Dana Brown of Beverly Hills, FL lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on May 31, 2022 . Dana was born on Nov. 17, 1948 in Brattleboro, VT. He was raised in Grantham, NH. Dana proudly serviced as a Ranger in the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam Conflict. A born leader he was awarded the Bronze Star twice for Bravery Under Fire (on land and in the air}. As a lifetime member of the V.F.W. he volunteered as an Honor Guard and Rifle Team Leader at Military Funerals. An avid sportsman, Dana enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, skiing, soccer, softball and a good game of darts. He enjoyed making and drinking craft beer, making sauerkraut, baked beans and his everchanging meatloaf. An exceptional writer; Dana was a published poet, with three poems in the Library of Congress. Dana’s Custom Woodworking was his creative outlet that kept his hands and mind busy. Dana was pre-deceased by his parents; Walter Brown, Alma [Labor] Shepard and step-father Ernest Shepard. He is survived by his first wife; Kathleen [Forrest] Brown and two daughters, Sonia [Rick] Anderson and Denise Ford, who loved her Daddy very much. His brothers Richard Brown and Ernest G. Shepard as well as sister Deborah Bowers. Dana will be greatly missed by the Love of his Life, wife Kerry and his beloved step-son Brian Lester and his cherished step-daughter Kelli Wheeler. Dana is also survived by seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He will be forever missed by friends; Lud, Big Al, Redbird, Scooby Doo, Big Head, Swish and The Sargent Major. Among so many others. He was the best friend of many. An internment is scheduled for Friday Sept. 9, 1 PM at the Vermont Veteran’s Cemetery in Randolph Center, Vermont. A Celebration of Life shall take place Saturday Sept. 10, 3 PM at the Family Hunting Camp in Braintree, Vermont.
