Rev. David M. Ackerman, Sr.

Rev. David M. Ackerman, Sr. NEWPORT, NH — Rev. David Merrill Ackerman, Sr. went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born to Norman and Frances Ackerman (Bacon) in Claremont, NH and moved to Cornish as a small child, where he lived until he joined the United States Navy at 17. He met Caroline Ackerman, the love of his life, at age 25 and they recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. David also served as a Pastor and Evangelist for almost 50 years. He had a passion for Jesus Christ and a heart for the lost and broken, and touched many lives over the years. He often spoke of God’s love, grace and goodness even in his last moments. David is pre-deceased by his father and mother, his son Joseph Ackerman and great granddaughter Chenoa Ames-Ackerman. He is survived by his loving wife Caroline Ackerman (Vashaw) of Newport, NH; his children Anna Ackerman Lallo (Joe) of New London, CT; Lisa Beauregard (Kevin) of Venice, FL, David M. Ackerman, Jr. (Jessica) of Venice, FL; Maryann Coyne (Aaron) of Clovis, CA; Christopher Ackerman (Jessica) of Evans City, PA; Phillip Ackerman (Bethany) of Rimersburg, PA; John Ackerman (Elizabeth) of Newport, NH. He is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, his brothers Frank Ackerman of Cornish, NH and Richard Ackerman (Cathy) of Davenport, FL; his sisters Norma Garcia of Cornish, NH and Joyce Bielarski of Claremont, NH and many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. David’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11 AM at the United Church of Cornish on 403 Center Rd. in Cornish, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to assist with funeral expenses to Carol Ackerman, PO Box 833, Newport, NH 03773. Newton-Bartlett is assisting the family with arrangements.
