Rodney J. Davis GROVE CITY, OH — Rodney James Davis a former resident of Bow, NH passed away on July 23, 2022 at the age of 96. Rodney lived a full life as a chemist in the field of nuclear chemistry and as a devoted husband, father of four and companion. He was the son of Clarence and Pauline Davis of Claremont, NH, where he attended Stevens High School. He served in WWII in the Army 82nd Airborne Division. Post war, he attended the University of New Hampshire in Durham and graduated with a degree in chemistry. Rodney married his lab bench mate, Phyllis Clark, in 1949. They lived in Iowa where he earned a PhD in physical chemistry. He worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee as a research chemist and then at Nuclear Utility Services in Gaithersburg, MD, as a project manager. He was handy and built many things during his life. He and his wife liked to travel in their VW van to visit their children. He was an active outdoorsman that liked to hike, camp, canoe, kayak and sail in his boat, Resolve. He was a talented photographer. In retirement, Rodney moved with his wife to Bangor, ME. After his wife’s passing in 2007, he reunited with his Stephens HS Alumni group, moved to New Hampshire and enjoyed life with his forever partner, Maidee Wilson, from Bow, NH, another Stevens alum. He is survived by his four children: Melanie Davis, Galloway, OH; Hunter C Davis (Jeanne), Ottawa, IL; Melissa Myers, Seattle, WA; Hugh Davis (Betz Bernhard), Kirkland, WA; his five grandchildren: Ben Shackleford, Columbus, OH; Anne Shackleford, Woburn, MA; Clinton Reddie, Max Reddie, and Katie Davis, all in Greater Seattle, WA. He is also survived by his forever partner, Maidee Wilson, Bow, NH. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Davis; his brother, Francis Davis, and sisters Symola Carroll and Mary Lappalla. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with immediate family.
