LANGDON — The Fall Mountain football team hosted Stevens and Woodstock, Vermont on Saturday for a full contact scrimmage before the season opens next week.
Stevens had a good day on both sides of the ball with the hit of the day coming from Cardinals linebacker Carson Vielguth on a Woodstock runner. “We are going to give 100% on every play, that’s just how it’s going to be,” said Stevens Head Coach Josh Duford. Aiden White took some snaps at quarterback, and completed some downfield passes, while also racing his way into the end zone for a score. “We have weapons, some big bodies and we are ready, this team has high expectations,” said the senior.
The Wildcats are making the leap into Division 3 this season with lots of unknowns. “We need to execute for the entire four quarters with no letup, we are built for this division. There are some tremendous teams in this division, so it will be a bit of a mystery,” said Fall Mountain Coach Orion Binney. Last season, the Wildcats made it to the championship game in Division 4. “We lost some incredible players to graduation, but this team is hungry and has worked very hard,” said Fall Mountain senior Dom Cady, who will see time at nose tackle and tailback.
Both teams open their seasons on the road as Fall Mountain takes a trip down to Swanzey to tangle with Monadnock on Friday for a 6:30 PM game. Stevens will head to Inter-Lakes-Moultonborough on Saturday for a noon kickoff.

The Cardinals are back in Division 3 and their first opponent got a taste of their firepower Tim St. Pierre’s squad has, as Stevens dismantled Berlin 8-0 on Saturday.
With Haley Knight in net shutting down Berlin, the Cardinals offense put on a show as five different Cardinals hit the back of the net. Tori Dalke registered a hat-trick, while Stella Lavertue (2), Kiley Bundy, Maddy Minckler all scored goals after Alyssa Paquette scored the first Cardinals goal of the season.
In Junior Varsity action, the Cardinals closed out the day with a 6-0 win. Stevens will host Kearsarge on Tuesday as part of a men’s and women’s doubleheader, starting at 5 PM.
