Sunapee found the back of the net ten times in their home opener against Hinsdale en route to a 10-0 victory.
Sunapee carried play from start to finish, using a possession style of play to spread Hinsdale’s defense and strong combination plays to the net. “While it was nice to put forth a strong effort and earn a ‘W’ to open the season, there is plenty to work on. I like the vibe of this team. They are dedicated to improving, and if they continue to do so, we will be in good shape; we have a lot of strong pieces,” said Sunapee Head Coach Myles Cooney.
The story of the night centered around Liz Tschudin scoring her 100th point on the second goal of the evening for the Lakers. Liz is an unselfish player who works tirelessly for the benefit of many. She becomes another in a growing line of Lakers to accomplish this feat, most recently Brynn Smith, who scored her 100th point last season. “What separates Liz is her strong team play from the middle of the field, she is a center midfielder by trade, not a forward, the scoring line says it all as she finished with one goal and two assists. A typical night for the Sunapee senior who is currently considering playing collegiately at Keene State College, Ithaca College or Endicott College. Liz is a special soccer player, a great teammate and a really nice person, we are all very proud of her,” said Cooney.
Goals were scored by Izzy Correa, Tschudin, Hannah Laflamme, Brynn Smith found the back of the net four times, Clare Touhy scored a beauty off a corner kick and Lil Kelleher added two of her own off the bench; assists were awarded to Izzy Correa, Brynn Smith, Clare Tuohy, Tschudin (2), Hannah Laflamme, and Sophie Bourque.
