Bellows Falls tops Windsor, 4-0WINDSOR, Vt. — Sadie Scott celebrated her birthday with two first half goals as the Terriers took care of business at Windsor on Wednesday, winning 4-0. “We started slow but cleaned things up as the game went on. Windsor is so good, and we really needed to play hard, and I think we did,” said Scott. Scott’s two first half goals were followed up with two second half goals off the stick of Emma Bazin as the Terriers improved to 2-0 on the season. “We clumped up a bit in the first half, but we play hard and work even harder to get better. This is an amazing group,” said Bellows Falls coach Bethany Coursen.
Across the field, the Yellow Jackets new coach was super happy with the play of her team. “We open with an incredibly tough schedule against really good teams, I like that. It will make us better,” said Blake Wardwell, who has eyes on another championship. “This program has won three straight state championships, the pedigree is there, ‘’ added Wardwell.
“We are very young with only one senior, but this team is really close and eager,” said Jacks sophomore captain Gabby Gilbert
Cardinals explode past Hillsboro-Deering 10-0CLAREMONT — Stevens continues to flex their muscles as they continued their string of shutout wins on Wednesday with a 10- 0 win over Division 3 foe Hillsboro-Deering. Cardinal (4-0) goal scorers: Stella Lavertue (2), Tori Dalke (2), Maddy Minckler, Alyssa Paquette, Kiley Bundy, Kaiya Richard, Addison Derosier, Anna Aiken.
Assists: Dalke (2), Bundy (2), Lavertue, Isabella Bovell, Madelyne LaVarnway, Lilyanna Eagan, Derosier. Hailey Knight notched her 4th Shutout in four games.
Sunapee women stay red hot, win 8-0SUNAPEE — The Sunapee girls were playing hard and fast in the first half versus Epping, but they didn’t have much to show for it on the scoreboard, as they had 14 shots on frame, and only two found the back of the net. They carried a two-goal cushion into the half, made a few adjustments, and found success in the second half with 11 shots and six goals, led by strong runs through the center midfield from Liz Tschudin and Clare Touhy; en route to a 8-0 victory at Alexander field.
Goals on the night came from Brynn Smith (3), Sophie Bourque (2), Liz Tschudin (2) and Amelia Slack. Assists were awarded to Bourque, Correa, Tschudin, Tuohy, Laflamme and Smith.
Sunapee’s first big test of the year will come Friday at Newmarket. “I’m not quite sure that we’re ready, we go forward well, but can we defend against a team of that caliber, that is the question? The girls are working hard, they know where they need to improve; if we play as a team Friday, we will be competitive,” said coach Myles Cooney.
Woodstock 3, Windsor 2WINDSOR, Vt. — Windsor was down 1-0 at half, then came roaring back with two goals within two minutes of each other at the 8th and 10th minutes in the second half to take the lead. Audrey Rupp (assisted by Olivia MacLeay) squared the match then MacLeay (unassisted off a free kick) gave the Yellow Jackets the lead. Woodstock got the equalizer five minutes later and put the winning goal in at the 27th minute. Sophia Rockwood was solid in net for Windsor making six saves. “We played a great game; I think our inexperience showed a bit tonight. I am super excited to watch this team keep getting better with each game,” said Windsor coach Jeff Bachey.
Woodstock goals were scored by Isabel Konijnen, Chloe Masillo, and Kassidy Hayley.
