John J. Elliott

John J. Elliott BELLOWS FALLS — John Joseph Elliott, 84 of Bellows Falls passed away on August 29, 2022 at Springfield Hospital, surrounded by his family. John was born on September 9, 1937 in Bellows Falls, VT, to Harold and Catherine (O’Brien) Elliott. He graduated from Bellows Falls high School in 1956 and began working with his father doing carpentry and masonry work in the Bellows Falls and North Walpole area. John married his loving wife Mary E. Karter in 1969, who survives. He worked many years alongside his wife Mary at Sister’s Pizza keeping the town well fed on amazing pizza. John later joined the custodial staff at the Bellows Falls Union High School where he worked until his retirement. He was honored by the High School students who dedicated their yearbook to him because of his hard work, caring, and friendship that helped to make their experience more memorable. A dedicated father and grandfather John loved nothing more than spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed sharing stories if his youth growing up in the North Walpole, NH- Bellows Falls, VT area. He was an avid sports fan and had at one time amassed an extensive baseball cap collection. John is survived by his wife Mary, and their children Darrin (Tammy Manning), John II (Cheryl), Harold (Stacy Malmberg), Karter (Renee)and Katie (Barry Chamberland). John was also survived by his grandchildren, John III, Streeter, Dylan, Chelsey, Laura Wentworth, Nathaniel, Andrew, Christian Bowers, Abigail Walker, Brady, Karson, Reghan Ryea, Dean Ryea, Kiya, Livia Chamberland, Adeline Chamberland, great grandson Ezra Elliott, as well as many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Mary Garmalo, and Nancey Edwards, as well as his grandson Joshua Elliott. There are no calling hours. The Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at St Peter’s Church in N. Walpole, NH at 12:00 noon with a celebration of life immediately following at the Bellows Falls Masonic Temple, food and refreshments will be served. All are encouraged to attend and share a memory.
