Theron “Sam” D. MacCreighton NEWBURY — Theron “Sam” D. MacCreighton, 87, of Old Post Road, died Saturday, September 10, 2022 at his home. He was born in Grafton, NH on October 23, 1934 the son of Charles and Florence (Kimball) MacCreighton. He attended New London High School and for a short time worked for Sargent and Hunter and as a subcontractor for Hodgdon Homes. He was also a self employed general contractor. Sam could do most anything from painting to repairing to building. He loved working along side his son, Danny, daughter-in-law, Cindy and grandson, Daniel for many years. Even though they worked together all day they could still sit around the table and tell stories all night. They lived in North Sutton and then in Warner for many years. The warm weather drew them to wintering in FL for nine years and spent the last 26 years in Newbury, NH. While in North Sutton, Sam was a member of the Sutton Volunteer Fire Department. He was extremely interested in the Civil War and visited Gettysburg several times. He also loved to travel in his motorhome especially to York Beach, Maine and loved the Blue Ridge Mountains. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family, being a hard worker and his love for tractors. He is predeceased by his parents and siblings, Nellie, Evelyn and Glen. Sam is survived by his wife of 69 years, Charis “Sherry” M. (Richardson) MacCreighton of Newbury, NH; a son and his wife, Danny and Cindy MacCreighton of Newport, NH; two grandchildren and their spouses, five great grand children. Victoria and Zachary Turcot their children Allyssa and Nikolas, of Newport, NH and Daniel and Angela MacCreighton and their children Samantha, Claire, Daniel, Jr., of Springfield, NH; a sister, Frances Chellis of New London, NH; nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Upper Valley Humane Society.
