Mary E. St.Pierre CHARLESTOWN, NH — Mary Ellen St.Pierre of Jeffrey Rd, Charlestown, NH died at her home Monday night after her long battle with Interstitial Lung Disease. She was born March 27,1957 in Southington, Ct to Jervis “Red” Cooper and Pauline Hulday Gould. Mary grew up and attended schools in New Britain, Ct. She was married in 1973 having two sons Johnny O. and Pedro J Rodriguez. Divorced in 1977, Mary raised her sons as a single mother. She worked at New Britain Memorial Hospital with her mom. During those difficult times, she managed to study and get her GED and go on to complete courses in Cobol and Basic computing at the Business Careers Institute of New Britain. She then went to work for many years at New Britain OBGYN where she worked as file clerk, receptionist, and insurance specialist. After moving to Southington, she encouraged her boys to play sports and supported them by working the concession stand during their games. It was at one of these games, in the fall of 1988, she met her future husband Tom, whom she married June 24,1989, at Arrowhead Recreation Area in Claremont, NH. Mary, Tom, and the boys lived in Southington, Ct for 14 years while Tom completed his Submarine service in the U.S. Navy, during which time Mary managed to become a Certified Nurses Aid, whereupon she left NB OBGYN to work as a CNA at local nursing homes. Mary moved to Claremont, NH with her husband and Johnny in 2002 finding their home on Judland Heights in North Charlestown. She attended nursing school in Claremont and fulfilled her lifelong dream when she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Mary dedicated her life to caring for others, especially the elderly, who she wanted to help to stay at home with loved ones for as long as possible. After working at several nursing homes including IHS and Sullivan County Nursing Home, she bravely started her own business “Mary’s from the Heart Homemaking” providing personal care and services enabling many clients to extend their stay at home. The family members of those clients all used the same word when describing her and that word is ANGEL. She was truly an Angel on earth when it came to someone’s health care. Apparently God needed to cut her life here on earth short to bring her back to his realm, for reasons unimaginable to us. We take solace in knowing that she is no longer struggling for every breath of life, every minute of every day, as she has for the last 5 months. She was at her happiest hosting family get togethers, ensuring there was always more than enough food to feed an Army of friends and relatives. All those great times still fell far short of the joy she had for every moment she got to spend with newest granddaughter, Amorita. Her greatest regrets were that she wouldn’t get to see her dream home built and that she won’t be here to see her little PB grow up. Mary is survived by her husband of 33 years Tom, two sons, Johnny and Pedro (Tiffany) Rodriguez, a sister Barbra (Stanley) Duro of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, and brother, Gary (partner Sandi) Cooper of Guilford, NH. Grand children Alize, Pedro Jr., Kalani, Kane, Miguel, Luciano, and the love of her life Amorita (PB) with Ahlanie Ellen on the way. Several brothers’ and sisters’ in-law as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and honorary son Angelita Malta. She was predeceased by her parents, and recently her best friend, comrade-in-arms, and sister in-law Elaine St.Pierre. Her family thanks Bayada Hospice care for their kind and professional services, especially her Aide Emily. Calling hours Friday, September 23 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, September 24 viewing 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Service at 11:00 a.m. with burial following in Hope Hill Cemetery, North Charlestown, NH. A reception will be held at the Charlestown VFW Post, 365 Lovers Lane Rd, Charlestown, NH following the cemetery service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St.Jude’s Research Center.
