Douglas D. Scott CHARLESTOWN — Douglas Dixon Scott, 54, of Charlestown, New Hampshire, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2022. Douglas was born in St. Paul, Minisota on March 1, 1968 to Bruce and Elsa Scott of Cape Cod and was the older brother to Jeffrey Scott of Purcellville, Virginia. He was a kind and loving husband to his wife of 29 years Milinda Jean Scott, as well as an amazing father to his daughters Katherine Ayn Scott and Danielle Eileen Scott. Milinda and Douglas met at New England College in Henniker, NH and were married on August 7, 1993 in Charlestown. A relationship that many want and few are lucky enough to find, they were best friends and always made the effort to keep their relationship and family strong. Douglas and Milinda knew the importance of spending time together and still continued to go on regular date nights to keep the fun and love in their relationship alive. Aside from finding his love of a lifetime, one of Douglas’s biggest accomplishments in life was becoming a father and he considered himself lucky to be a Dad to his two daughters. Douglas was an extremely family oriented man who cherished the simple things such as weekends at their seasonal campsite in Cavendish, Vermont and family dinners on Sundays at his in-laws. Douglas was adored by many but none more than his two girls who considered him to be the best role model for how a man should behave and treat the people he loves. His girls have been lucky enough to find men that embody several of their fathers qualities and Douglas was proud to welcome them into his family. Douglas graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Natural Science in 1990 and aspired to own and run his own business. His dream became reality on August 30, 2013 when Douglas and Milinda purchased American Plate Glass in Claremont, NH and 9 months later acquired Woodstock Glassworks in Woodstock, VT. In the 9 years since, they have continued to grow and improve their companies which continue to flourish with the help of their amazing staff that is full of close friends and family. Keeping the small town business feel to the glass company was a central part of developing the business model and was very important to Douglas. He believed in customer service and had pride in the quality of his and his companies work. Through these beliefs he was able to form lasting, positive relationships with his customers. When it came to installing glass he often stated, “If I wouldn’t put it in my home, I wouldn’t put it in a customer’s home.” Doug was very creative and had a passion for history, which was reflected in both his work and many hobbies. He enjoyed metal detecting, woodturning, sketching, riding motorcycles, four wheeling in his jeep, maple sugaring, and collecting watches to name just a few. Due to the success of the businesses he realized his newest hobby of cursing with his wife, family and friends. Through his cruises he was able to experience new adventures with his family and find his home away from home on the ocean and in the Caribbean. He was an active member of the Freemasons of Faithful Lodge #12, was a mentor for the Boy Scouts of America, and a retired member of the fire department in Charlestown, NH. He was passionate about community and giving back to the town that he raised his family in.
