LANGDON- When ConVal went for it on fourth down deep in Fall Mountain territory early in the game, Dan Farnham was there to send a message. “I take pride in shutting the offense down and that play set our attitude for the game,” said the senior. The Wildcats would go on to run over the Cougars 33-0 to grab their third straight win.

After a Zach Patch to Josh Devore pass was stopped at the 1-yard line, Max Vogel got the call and his score opened up the floodgates for Orion Binney’s team that found their stride in the second quarter. “We got the win, but we still have lots of stuff to clean up,” said Binney.

After a sluggish first quarter, the Wildcat offense exploded when Owen Reindeau (two touchdowns and 163 yards gained) wowed the big crowd with a seven-yard run as he broke tackles to get to pay dirt. Vogel would follow that score two minutes later as he pushed tacklers to the ground on his way to his second touchdown as Fall Mountain opened up a 20-0 lead.

Not only was the Wildcat offense operating on all cylinders, but the defense was on a mission. Josh Pillsbury’s interception and 30-yard return set up another Riendeau score behind a big offensive line. With Farnham, Murray Spaulding, and Tyson Patch throwing some great blocks, the Wildcats were rolling. With many players playing on both sides of the ball, Vogel prefers offense while Farnham thrives on defense. “I just like to hit people, that’s definitely what I like the best,” said Farnham, while Vogel stated, “my mind and feet don’t always work so well on defense so let me block or run.”

The Wildcat defense was led by Porter Willett who stuffed ConVal for big losses and DeVore made some great open field tackles to keep ConVal off the board.

Fall Mountain quarterback Patch was much healthier on Friday, and his arm and legs were yet another weapon the Wildcats are enjoying. Patch’s 23 yard run down the sidelines and his throw to DeVore early in the game kept the Cougars guessing all night. “We had a horrible week of practice, this team has so much potential, we need to do much better,” said Patch after the game.

Some of the potential that Patch was talking about is looking like it is from a freshman as Pat Connors bruised his way in for a touchdown to close out the scoring on the night as Connors grabbed his first touchdown of many more to come.

“We are a family, I love this team and I know we will get better, the best is yet to come,” said Patch.

The Wildcats (3-1) heads to Kingswood on Friday for a game that will have huge playoff implications for Fall Mountain.
