WINDSOR, Vt. — Windsor put up 35 first half points against a good Rice team but still has work to do after a 42-8 win. “It’s a journey we are still on, and we are far from being where we need to be, we all have a job to do and we need to do it better,” said Windsor Head Coach Greg Balch.

With Davy Davis doing play-by-play from the tower, and handing out a 50/50 winning pot of $215, the big homecoming crowd was treated to another Yellow Jacket win to remain undefeated on the season.

Windsor seniors Maison Fortin and Travis McAllister had themselves quite a day combining for six touchdowns on the ground and in the air. Fortin connected with Corey Lockwood in the endzone to start the offensive output for the Jacks, then on their next possession, Fortin would run it in from 15 yards out and Windsor was off. Windsor held Rice to 39 total yards in the first half, while Fortin would exceed that on a run for 67 yards before he was brought down at the 14-yard line just as the first quarter was ending. “I got a little tired, they were on my heels,” said Fortin, who capped off the drive with a one-yard plunge to make it 20-0.

McAllister would use his muscle to grab two scores with runs of 8 and 10 yards as he pushed, stiff armed and ran over would-be tacklers. “We don’t want anyone to ever want to play us again, we need to send a message to everyone,” said McAllister as Windsor headed into the break leading 35-0.

“I’m a 48-minute coach, we have lots to work on and get better at,” said Balch, as Windsor used the shotgun to prepare for the next games before going deep into the bench.

Not only is the Windsor offense clicking, but their defense is also finding themselves. “We are starting to get an identity, we have an edge and a mean streak that is starting to develop,” said Defensive Coordinator Jamie Richardson. Vance Martin is a beast on that defensive side of the ball as he had two loud sacks for a 10 then a 20-yard loss on the Rice quarterback. Brody Osgood‘s interception and return for 50 yards was a bright spot for the Jacks as the second half became sloppy. “We can do better, we need to do better,” said Dante Roy.

“This team is focused, really focused, we have a goal, and we will not stop until we achieve it,” said Avery Bean.

Windsor would punt for the first time all season in the second half while Olivia MacLeay connected on two more extra points giving her eight on the season.

Windsor (4-0) will welcome Otter Valley (2-2) next weekend.
