LTE: Not What Springfield Was Told

Do the residents of Springfield know what is going on at the prison in your town? An honor prisoner was told to clean the cell of an inmate following his death before the state police arrived to investigate. How did an inmate slit his own throat in the infirmary? Why was an inmate accused of causing himself a seizure and a blackout and then laughed at by the staff? Why is insulin given more than an hour before meals when it should be given within 20 minutes of meals? Why are items such as paper and books being taken away from inmates especially when they are in forced lock downs due to short staffing? Did you know the gym is being turned into more cells to house out of state prisoners being sent to Springfield, VT? Did you know the grievance protocol is rarely followed correctly? Did you know many staff members are not actually assisting inmates to be productive members of society upon release? An article was written about unhappy inmates and unhappy staff. There’s concern about both being pushed too far and the possible outcome. Only one-unit houses violent individuals. Regardless, each inmate is a human, and many have stories to tell. Perhaps Springfield will look into this further.
