WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. – Vital Communities, Efficiency Vermont, and LISTEN Community Services are teaming up to make sure Upper Valley residents sign up to get the help they might need this winter paying high energy costs and making their homes more energy-efficient in the future.
The partners have launched a campaign to call attention to the newly updated “Energy Help” page at vitalcommunities.org/energyhelp, where users can easily find programs that help pay high bills and offer them free or low-cost weatherization and other energy improvements for their homes.
The partners also are holding a free drop-in Affordable Energy Resources Fair, Saturday, Nov 19, 11 am and 3 pm, at LISTEN Community Dinner Hall, 42 Maple St. White River Junction, VT. The public is welcome to drop by and speak with experts on energy help programs for New Hampshire and Vermont residents and also get free DIY weatherization materials.
“Applying for help can be complicated,” said Anna Guenther, the Vital Communities Project Manager who is organizing the event. “It’s hard to know who to ask for support and if it will actually be worth it. We are hoping our event will help Upper Valley community members find the right programs and resources to save them money and reduce their fuel use. This might mean taking home some free tools to help prevent cold air from getting in under doors and through windows. Or maybe it means applying for a program that will pay someone’s heating bill so they can focus on paying their other bills.”
