Two of the state powerhouse field hockey teams ended their season on Tuesday as they both fell in the semi-finals in their divisions. Windsor fell to Montpelier 3-2 in overtime while Bellows Falls dropped their game to CVU, 2-1.
SOUTH BURLINGTON- #4 Windsor came back twice against #1 ranked Montpelier on goals from Piper Vivian and then from Hannah Tenney to tie the game late to send it into overtime. Yellow Jacket keeper Sydney Perry was unbelievable making saves from every angle until Montpelier scored on a deflection to earn the 3-2 win.
MIDDLEBURY- Bellows Falls trailed 2-0 late until Ava LaRoss’s goal brought the big Terrier following some hope but as the rain started to fall on the turf, so did the hopes of a return trip to the University of Vermont for the #4 Terriers as #1 CVU hung on for a 2-1 win.
The Eagle Times will have the full game stories in our Saturday edition.
