Paul A. Kowzan

Paul A. Kowzan MARIETTA, GA — Paul Alexander Kowzan, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, November 3rd, 2022. Paul was born on June 8, 1955 in Claremont, New Hampshire, the youngest child of Alexander Paul Kowzan and Ruth Madeline (Densmore) Kowzan. At the age of one, his family moved to Citrus Heights, California before returning to New Hampshire eight years later. He would go on to graduate from Stevens High School in Claremont. After high school, he studied hotel and restaurant administration at the University of New Hampshire. While at college, Paul met the love of his life, the former Ms. Jewell Elizabeth Lundell. They married in Ridgefield, Connecticut in 1981, and the family resided in Laurel, Maryland, where Paul was employed by Hargrove, Inc. In 1989, Paul accepted a regional sales position with Alford Media, where he would remain until his retirement. That same year the family moved from Maryland to the Chestnut Creek neighborhood in Cobb County, Georgia. The “Creekers” have been more family than neighbors for the past 33 years, and Paul’s annual Super Bowl Party was the highlight of the neighborhood’s social calendar. In high school, he enjoyed basketball, baseball, and fishing; but his true love was golf, a passion that would stay with him throughout his life. He grew up a Boston sports fan, fervently supporting the Bruins, Red Sox, and Patriots. He was also an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, Falcons, and both of his daughter’s Auburn and Clemson Tigers. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, David Ray Lundell Sr.; his daughter, Jessie Alexandra (Kowzan) Oberholtzer; and nephew, Dean Zimmerman. Paul is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jewell; daughter, Jewell Patricia Kowzan of Sandy Springs, Georgia; son-in-law and his wife, Jerry and Sarah Oberholtzer, of Sugar Hill, Georgia; and his beloved grandsons who carry on his name, Gerald Paul “JP” Oberholtzer & Grant Alexander Oberholtzer, both of Sugar Hill, Georgia. He is also survived by his sister and her husband, Sarah (Kowzan) and Bob Zimmerman, of Nashua, New Hampshire; and mother-in-law, Patricia (Wells) Lundell of Marietta, Georgia. Paul was an avid lover of animals, and the family had many cherished pets over the years. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to make a gift to the Atlanta Humane Society, 1565 Mansell Road, Alpharetta, GA 30009. Final arrangements have been made through H.M. Patterson & Son of Marietta, Georgia. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 10th at 4:30pm with a visitation immediately preceding. If you would like to reach out to the family, please contact his son-in-law Jerry via email at [email protected].
