I have lived in Claremont for almost 20 years.. fifteen of those on Charles St.
This has been a very nice quiet neighborhood and affordable. As the city of Claremont allows
certain animals to be kept within city limits, this quiet neighborhood is no longer a quiet haven to come home to and relax, let alone get a peaceful night’s sleep.
A neighbor on Little Lane, 2 years or so ago, added sheds with chickens and ducks.
With that, comes the smell on hot humid days as well as the clucking and quacking.
This week alone, I was awakened at 2 am on Monday, 3 am on Tuesday, 4 am on Wednesday, 7 am on Saturday, and 6 am on Sunday, all by the quacks of the ducks, one in particular.
This can continue for an hour or two or more, and I am sure I am not the only one awakened by it. This also repeats in the afternoons, so one can’t come home and relax after work without this noise. It is happening now as I write this..on and on and on…..
I sent a noise complaint to the city, no response of course. I tried to call City Hall, no one answered… I have not tried the Police, as I am sure they have much better things to do than deal with animal issues.
Although people do have the rights to their animals, they also need to be respectful to their neighbors while in city limits with close-by neighbors. They do need to realize these mini-farms are also infringing on our rights for peaceful nights and days without continuous animal interruptions. It is now noontime, and the duck quacks on..I should not have to leave my apartment for peace and quiet…
? Police or lawyer?
