Maxine C. Gibbs LEMPSTER, NH — Maxine C. Gibbs, 68, passed away after a long-term illness on November 12, 2022. Maxine was born in North Westminster, VT on March 25, 1954. She graduated from Stevens High School in Claremont, NH and had various occupations afterwards, including housekeeping and a machinist at Sturm Ruger. She was a spitfire redhead known for her determination to do whatever she set her mind to, but her family was everything. She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother. Her love of animals led her to raise miniature border collies. Maxine was a member to the Claremont American Legion and Polish Club. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank Horton and Phyllis (Lee) Horton; her brothers, Steve Peck, Charlie Peck, Frank Peck, Roger Peck, and Ed Peck. Surviving family includes her son Jason Gibbs and his wife Ellie; her daughter Tammy Andros; her brother Lenny Brown; her sisters Brenda Mayes, Cindy Jarvis, and Veronica Dubriel; six grandchildren: JT, Tristan, Kaleb, and Kameron Gibbs, Francis Wilkie, and Josh Andros; and many extended family members. Family and friends can attend calling hours on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport, NH from 5:00-7:00 pm. Burial will take place on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Mountain View Cemetery in Claremont at 2:00 pm, followed by a reception at the American Legion, 119 Broad Street, Claremont.
