Laird Klingler

Laird Klingler CORNISH — Laird Klingler, 78, of Cornish, NH, died on November 12, 2022, of heart and vascular complications at DHMC. He was born in 1943, in Rahway, NJ, the son of Lewis and Catherine (Laird) Klingler. Mr. Klingler and his wife, Evelyn, purchased their home in Cornish in 1990. They relocated there permanently in 1999, from NJ. Mr. Klingler’s wife predeceased him in 2001. He retired from Princeton University as the Librarian of the Woodrow Wilson School. Prior to that, he was a librarian at Rutgers University. He was also a Vietnam-era veteran, having served as a US Army Intelligence Agent from1968 to 1971. He had degrees from Lafayette College, NY University, and Rutgers University. Mr. Klingler served as the Librarian for the Cornish Historical Society and was active in the Neighbor to Neighbor Group in Cornish where he worked to provide firewood at the Recycling Center for those in need. With Volunteers in Action he did installations for the Lifeline Program. Although maintaining a lifelong membership in the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen, NJ, Mr. Klingler attended services at Saint Thomas Church, Hanover, NH, Trinity Episcopal Church, Claremont, NH, Union Episcopal Church, West Claremont, NH, and United Methodist Church, Windsor, VT. Mr. Klingler is survived by his sister, Margaret Hansen, and her two children, his niece Beth and his nephew Christian. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at 3pm, at the Plainfield Community Church, in the village of Plainfield, NH.
