SUNAPEE — According to a press release on the Sunapee Police Department’s Facebook page, a juvenile reported missing earlier on Tuesday has been located.

At approximately 9:11 AM on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, the Sunapee Police Department asked for the public’s assistance in finding a missing juvenile via a press release. According to that release, Michael Breisch, 12, of Sunapee went missing from the area of Seven Hearths Lane at approximately 8:30 AM. At that time, it was known that he was left on foot, but not in what direction.

When Breisch had last been seen they were described as standing four feet 11 inches tall, with a slender build, brown eyes, and shoulder-length brown hair. The missing juvenile had been wearing khaki pants, a black, hooded jacket, and brown shoes.

Police requested that residents of the Seven Hearths Lane area to check outside buildings on their respective properties, as Breisch was known to like hiding in confined areas. They also asked that residents stayed out of wooded areas to allow New Hampshire Fish & Game to conduct a thorough search with their K-9 unit. A drone from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department was deployed to help be an eye-in-the-sky.

As the day wore on, and light became sparse, another source of help arrived, the New Hampshire State Police. The statewide force began a grid-search of the area using one of their helicopters. Sunapee residents were warned to expect a low-flying chopper in their area, and to stay out of the woods, as the police would be using an infrared camera system to detect heat signatures in the woods.

At 5:48 PM on Tuesday an update was posted to the department’s Facebook page from Sunapee Police Chief E.Neill Cobb stating, “Michael Breisch has been located safe and sound! Thank you to all of the agencies involved who assisted with the search and thank you to the community for your support!”

Helping on the mission to find Breisch were members of the Sunapee, New London, Newbury, Newport, and New Hampshire State Police. Additionally, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Sunapee Fire Department, and New Hampshire Fish & Game Department helped return the juvenile home safe and sound.
