SUNAPEE — Mary Katherine Moynihan, 22, of Sunapee, New Hampshire, passed away on November 30th as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Mary was born on December 30th, 1999, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon, New Hampshire, to Sean and Amy (Hall) Moynihan.

Mary grew up in Sunapee where she forged a number of precious lifetime friendships. A huge fan of all Sunapee High School sports, Mary attended Sunapee schools where she was a member of two championship soccer teams, a member of the track team, and manager of the girls’ basketball team. After graduating from Sunapee High School in 2018, Mary graduated from the University of New Hampshire Peter. T. Paul of School and Business and Economics in the spring of 2022, and she was presently employed at Fidelity Investments. Throughout her high school and college years she served as a loving and caring nanny/babysitter for a number of families who she remained close with, she spent her summers managing Stacy’s Smoothies, and she managed the Sunapee Farmer’s Market.

Mary will be remembered by all who love her for her sweet nature, beautiful smile, strong work ethic, and generous spirit. She loved and was loved by people of all ages. Her witty banter, joyful exuberance, and caring hugs will be missed.

In addition to her parents, Mary is survived by her sister Erin and brother Sean, and her grandparents Thad and Amber Hall of Milton Mills, New Hampshire, and Daniel and Ann Moynihan of Rochester, New Hampshire. She is also survived by her uncles Thad Hall, Michael Moynihan, Daniel Moynihan, aunts Karyn Hall, Courtney Stoutamire, and Lisa Fiddler-Moynihan, and her cousins Elizabeth, Thomas, Sam, and Katherine Hall. Mary loved all of her family members dearly. Mary is also survived by her long-time boyfriend and love of her life, Justin Claus, as well as the entire Claus household who became a second family for Mary.

The Moynihans would also like to thank the Holobowicz family who have been Mary’s next-door neighbors for her entire childhood, her close-knit group of college friends, and the entire Sunapee community which showed Mary so much love and support during her life.

Mary loved her hometown of Sunapee, and we will keep her spirit and memory alive by establishing the Mary Katherine Moynihan Scholarship Fund. Donations can be sent to Merrill Lynch ℅ Mary Katherine Moynihan Scholarship Fund, 1499 Post Road, Fairfield, Connecticut 06824.
