CLAREMONT — Turning Points Network has announced that as of January 1, 2023, Pascale N. Graham, Ph.D will be acting as the new Executive Director for Sullivan County. Dr. Graham has stated that outgoing Executive Director Deborah Mozden has decided that after 40 years of service, she is going to retire, but that she intends to continue to lend her wealth of knowledge and experience as she transitions out of her position.
Turning Points Network’s mission is to enhance the safety and well being of victims and survivors domestic violence, sexual abuse and stalking through empowerment and advocacy; to create a community responsive to all victims and survivors through education, outreach and accountability and to empower the community to establish a safer culture.
Graham’s education in combination with her time spent volunteering and employment history has certainly made her a clear choice to begin the transitionary period from Assistant Director to Executive Director. She received her Master’s Degree in public administration from New York University before obtaining a Doctorate at McGill University in Canada while teaching at the Institute of Gender, Sexuality and Feminist Studies. Graham has also spent a lot of that time as a volunteer advocate, first as volunteer peer support for rape prevention while at NYU, then with Americorps Vista working at a domestic violence shelter before working in a mayoral office to work on domestic violence policies.
As the upcoming Executive Director, Graham continues to focus on ways to not only impact the community but to educate as well. She wants the community at large to be aware that “we are not just for victims and survivors but also anyone that needs information and resources when it comes to these dangerous and difficult situations.”
This work Graham says could not be done without the Turning Points Networks team operating at every level of aid. She stated that it often advocates working with individuals that are able to first notice gaps in support and care, so that the TPN team is able to make effective changes to offer resources to those in need.
“As with all Executive Director positions its about helping to facilitate the goal of realizing the organizations mission Which fundamentally comes down to helping people who are primarily victims or survivors of domestic or sexual violence. Obviously it’s the day to day nitty gritty details like budget oversight as well. I think overall though we are very fortunate that we work collaboratively with everyone that works here and it’s not just one person steering the ship,” Graham said of her expectations in her new position.
Mozden intends to continue her six month transition out of her position and in that time will continue to spearhead TPN’s move to Broad Street in Claremont as well as a number of other projects that she has begun and facilitated. Anyone in need of TPN’s services is able to call (603) 543-0155 or visit them at their School Street location until their move to Broad Street.
