Eunice S. Damren CLAREMONT -Eunice S. Damren, 93, of Claremont, NH passed away on March 31, 2023 at Sullivan County Health Care, Unity, NH. Eunice was born on August 19, 1929 in Carrabassett, Maine the daughter of Arthur F. and Lois (Newcomb) Soule, the third of 4 children. The family moved to several Maine communities before finally settling in Pittsfield, Maine. She attended Maine Central Institute where she graduated as class valedictorian in 1947. After graduation Eunice worked as a clerk stenographer for the State of Maine Highway Department. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Leigh Damren. Eunice and Leigh were married on December 14, 1948 and began their married life in Claremont, NH. Eunice was the mother of 5 children and was active through the years simply keeping up with all of their activities, and always with an ever present dog and/or cat in the house. In addition, she spent many late evenings at the kitchen table with Leigh keeping the books after he bought YD Mobil Oil service station in Claremont. After Leigh became blind in 1967 she took on additional responsibilities and handled them with her good nature and optimistic spirit. In later years, Eunice was also the caregiver for her mother-in-law, Harriett, and later for Leigh’s aunt, Edith Damren. Somehow, Eunice also found the time to be actively involved with the church Sunday School and ladies groups. After Leigh became a very active ham radio operator, Eunice took her test and received her ham radio license, KA1QCH so as to have more to share with him. Selfless, kind, nice, optimistic, encouraging, supportive, animal lover are just some of the words that come to mind easily when thinking of Eunice. Eunice was predeceased by her parents; her husband Leigh; her daughter, Pamela Levanovich; and her siblings and their spouses, Alton and Emily Soule, Harland and Nancy Soule, and Meredith and George Whitney. She is survived by her son Allen (wife Jodi) Damren, daughter Lois (husband Andy) Buchan, daughter Debbie (husband Jim) Dischinger, and son Leo (wife Elaine) Damren. Eunice is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren: Jason (wife Christina) Damren and their children Faith, Abigail and Jase; Will Buchan; Janet (husband Terry) Roth; Corrinne VonKahle; Jessica Bellavance; Jared (wife Leona) Bellavance; Danielle (husband Rob) Lurie and their daughters Phoebe and Louise; Nick Damren; Allie Damren; and many nieces and nephews.
