CLAREMONT — Stevens High School track coach CJ Gosselin took his team down the road for their first meet of the season on April 8. The Cardinals opened the season at Monadnock Regional Middle High School, Swanzey, NH. The men’s team earned a seventh-place finish, while the Cardinal women grabbed fourth in the seven-team meet at the Huskies track.
Top performers for Stevens were Bella Bovell, who finished second in the Women’s 400-Meter, while Ella Muenzer crossed in sixth place.
Tyler Christian took second place in the Men’s Javelin and Hailey Knight won the Women’s Shot Put.
Jai Riberio, Jharin Garrow and Kaden Thyne took second, fifth, and sixth place, respectively, in the Men’s 100-Meter Dash. Riberio and Devin Genes finished third and fourth place, respectively, in the Men’s Long Jump.
Alyssa Paquette grabbed third place, while Audrina Pelton took home a fourth-place finish in the Women’s Discus Throw.
Mariah LaFarr’s long jump of 12’4” in the Women’s Long Jump earned her a second place finish. Tyler Christian’s 32’ 8” toss in the Men’s Shot Put gave him a second-place finish.
Sam Dalke finished fourth place in the Men’s Discus, while Christian grabbed the sixth spot. Paquette cleared 27’ 6.5” in the Women’s Triple Jump.
Men’s team totals: Conant, 123; Newport, 118; Monadnock, 90; Mascoma, 85; Stevens, 47; Hinsdale, 16; and Wilton-Lyndeborough, 4.
Women’s team totals: Conant, 107; Mascoma, 77; Newport, 76; Stevens, 69; Monadnock, 61; Wilton-Lyndeborough, 4; and Hinsdale, 3.
