From the perspective of an independent voter, the outlook for the 2024 presidential candidates is depressing. President Biden is too old and out of touch with the voters. Donald Trump is obnoxious and wants to be King again. Governor DeSantis is the scariest of all. His motto of “Never Back Down” tells it all. A leader should be a good listener, a negotiator and able to compromise. “Never Back Down” is completely contradictory to those leadership traits. Hopefully there is someone waiting in the wings with the credentials that we need who will appear before too long. Is it naive to hope that there is a candidate who truly wants to lead our country forward out of the partisan roadblock of Washington rather than just desiring power?
