Lafeyette and Human Rights Correction

Since the publication of the May 30th, Lafayette and Human Rights article, it has come to our attention that Laird Klingler had never been President of the Cornish Historical Society. He was a board member and the long-time librarian/archivist. The current President, David Kruidenier, replaced Stu Hodgeman as President in October. Hodgeman had been President for the previous ten years.

In addition, there is another marker in Claremont near the Claremont/Cornish town line on Route 12A that is not a part of the Lafayette Trail, LLC. It marks the location of a previous tavern that hosted Lafayette on his farewell tour. That stone marker was placed there by the Daughters of the American Revolution in the early 1900s.

The marker in Newport for the Lafayette Trail is on the Newport Common next to the bandstand.
