Gary V. Cloutier CLAREMONT, NH -Gary Vernon Cloutier died suddenly at his Claremont home on May 31, 2023. He was born on January 30, 1959 in Claremont, NH to the late Robert Victor Cloutier and Olive Morse Cloutier. He leaves behind his three siblings and their spouses – John Cloutier of Claremont, David Cloutier and wife Monique of Whitinsville, MA, sister Anne Kaminski and husband Ken of Sutton, MA as well as nieces Nicole Cloutier Reed and husband Ryan Reed of Grenada, West Indies, Jacqueline Cloutier of London, England, Peter Cloutier of Whitinsville, MA, Peter Kaminski of Monterey, CA, and Julie Kaminski of Marseilles, France. Gary was a graduate of Stevens High School, class of 1977. He attended Keene State College for a year and half and then earned two associates degrees from the now River Valley Community College – one in Physical Therapy Assistance in 1981 and the second in 1993 in Business Micro Computers. Between 1983-84 he worked in North Carolina in physical therapy and thereafter in a variety of small businesses in technology support, but spent the bulk of his career in the grocery business, most recently at the Coop Food Store in Lebanon, NH, retiring in 2020. Gary will be known as a quiet, deeply contemplative, and passionate seeker of truth. An avid reader and researcher, his book collection filled multiple bookcases, boxes, and shelves: his favorite pursuits – his Christian faith, alternative healthcare approaches, kinesiology, music, and organic and whole food nutrition. What he loved and appreciated he had tremendous enthusiasm for, and if you gave him the time, he would give you an earful! He played both high school football and tennis and also enjoyed a good game of pick-up basketball. Gary liked sailing too, hoping to become expert at it, along with everything else he put his hand and heart to. He played the saxophone briefly as well as guitar and loved all sorts of music, Celtic in particular. The science and the art behind all that he did and researched were vital to him; he deeply appreciated both. A graveside service for Gary will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Hope Hill Cemetery, North Charlestown, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Both Hands Foundation. bothhands.org. Arrangements are under the care of Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, NH.
