Terriers headed to the semi-finals with exciting 3-2 win

Vermont Division 3 Softball Quarterfinals

WESTMINSTER, VT — Nerves were on display on Saturday as errors dotted the scorecard in an exciting game between Bellows Falls (BF) and Green Mountain that ended up being decided late with only one earned run scored all day.

With the score tied 2-2, Riley Haskell led off the seventh inning for Bellows Falls and reached via an error, then scampered to second on a passed ball. Emma Spaulding put down a perfect bunt that forced a hurried throw that got away and allowed Haskell to score the winning run to give the Terriers a 3-2 win.

Hits were in short supply. Each team collected three with the Terriers Jenna Dolloph, Izzy Stoodley and Aliya Farmer getting hits for BF while Abby Williams had two of the three Chieftain hits.

Stoodley took the win for Bellows Falls while Brie Howe-Lynch was the tough luck losing pitcher who didn’t allow a single earned run.
