CLAREMONT – On June 14, members of the Claremont Fire Department were dispatched to East Green Mountain Road in response to reports of smoke in the area.
According to a press release from Fire Chief Jim Chamberlain, at approximately 4 p.m., Engine 4 was sent to the area with two personnel. Upon arrival, the officer on duty identified multiple burn piles and called for additional resources and personnel.
Fire personnel were reportedly able to contact the party responsible for the burn piles and request that they come to the fire site. The individual complied with and assisted fire personnel in breaking up the burn piles in order for the fires to be put out. Personnel stayed at the scene for several hours to ensure the flames were extinguished and to prevent possible flare-ups.
Chamberlain’s release said that the Claremont Fire Department emphasizes the importance of adhering to fire regulations and encourages all area residents to seek proper permits prior to planning burn activities.
